Kaudulla with a private driver

Kaudulla National Park is part of the same elephant corridor as Minneriya and Hurulu, connected by the Central Elephant Corridor that allows herds to move freely between the three tanks. When the Minneriya reservoir fills earlier in the dry season and the grass there disappears, the elephants drift north to Kaudulla — the Gathering phenomenon therefore extends across both parks, and rangers and drivers track daily movement to direct visitors to whichever tank is most productive on any given day. Kaudulla receives significantly fewer visitors than Minneriya and the game drives feel noticeably quieter even when elephant numbers are comparable. The drive from Habarana to the Kaudulla gate takes about 20 minutes along the A11.
