We meet you at the airport and drive north to the ancient capital of Anuradhapura for the first night.

Anuradhapura → Mihintale
A morning among Anuradhapura's stupas and the sacred Bodhi tree, a stop at Mihintale, then on into the far north and the distinctive Tamil city of Jaffna.

Jaffna
A full day in Jaffna — the colourful Nallur Kandaswamy temple, the Dutch fort, palmyra-lined lanes and a boat trip out to the northern islands and their causeways.

Jaffna → Koneswaram Temple
We drive down the north-east coast to Trincomalee, arriving to visit the cliff-top Koneswaram temple above the harbour at sunset.

Nilaveli Beach → Pigeon Island
A beach day at Nilaveli, with an optional boat and snorkel trip to the coral reefs of Pigeon Island National Park.

We turn inland to the cultural triangle, arriving at Sigiriya in time to settle in for the evening.

Sigiriya Rock Fortress → Dambulla Cave Temple
Climb the Sigiriya Lion Rock at dawn, then explore the golden Buddhas and painted ceilings of the Dambulla cave temples.
- Day 8Overnight in Polonnaruwa
Polonnaruwa
A day among the medieval ruins of Polonnaruwa — the Gal Vihara rock-cut Buddhas, royal palace and ancient irrigation tanks — by bicycle if you like.

Pinnawala
We drive south towards Kandy, stopping at the elephants of Pinnawala, and arrive for the evening ceremony at the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic.

Kandy → Nuwara Eliya
A morning around Kandy's lake and gardens, then a beautiful climb through tea estates to the cool hill station of Nuwara Eliya, with a tea-factory tour.

Nuwara Eliya → Nine Arch Bridge
The famous scenic train ride through the highlands to Ella, arriving to watch a train cross the Nine Arch Bridge.
- Day 12Overnight in Yala National Park
Ella → Little Adam's Peak → Ravana Falls
A gentle Ella morning — Little Adam's Peak and Ravana Falls — then a long, scenic descent to the plains at the edge of Yala National Park.
- Day 13Overnight in Mirissa
Yala National Park → Galle Fort
A dawn safari in Yala for leopard and elephant, then west along the coast with a walk around historic Galle Fort, on to beachside Mirissa.

A final coastal morning before the drive back to Colombo for your onward transfer or airport drop-off.
